Penguin launches Hairy Maclary for iPad

Penguin Group (NZ) have worked with Kiwa Media to produce an interactive version of Lynley Dodd's classic children's book Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy. The book is now available as an app for the Apple iPad and features narration by David Tennant, colouring in activities, voice recording, wagging tails, barking dogs and other features which bring the story to life in a whole new way.

Alison Wong nominated for Australian PM Award

Penguin Group (NZ) are delighted to advise that As the Earth Turns Silver, by Alison Wong has been shortlisted for this year's Prime Minister's Literary Awards in Australia. The other nominees on the fiction category shortlist are J.M. Coetzee, Deborah Forster, Alan Gould, Eva Hornung, David Malouf and Alex Miller.
Alison Wong was born in New Zealand and has spent most of her adult life in Wellington. She currently resides in Geelong, just outside of Melbourne.

Artemis Fowl voted 'Puffin of Puffins' in UK poll

Eoin Colfer's book Artemis Fowl has been voted Puffin's most popular book in a recent nation-wide poll in the UK. Artemis Fowl received 68% of the 10,000 votes submitted, with Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory coming in second with just 13%.
Artemis Fowl is part of the phenomenally successful series of the same name.

Penguin wish to congratulate Alexa Johnston and The Maori Language Commission for their success at the Montana Book Awards.
Alexa Johnston's book, Ladies, a Plate, has been awarded the Lifestyle and Contemporary Culture Award. And The Maori Language Commission's book, He Pataka Kupu (the Maori language dictionary), has been awarded the Maori Language Award.
