ISBN 13 and the retiring of the BISAC format

As of 1 January 2007, 13 digit ISBNs will be the industry standard.
The 13-digit number will be identical with the EAN-13 number that is currently encoded in the barcode. If you currently sell non book product, i.e. postcards /cd’s/anything with a 13 digit barcode, through your POS system, it is likely that your system is capable of managing the change. (Please seek advice from your POS system provider.)
For more information regarding the 13 digit change please go to the National Library of New Zealand website.
An online ISBN-10 to ISBN-13 conversion tool can be found here.
