Like a Big Bash League match, this junior fiction series is explosive, entertaining and action-packed!

Cricket-mad twins Millie and Maggie are on holidays in Queensland at their uncle’s caravan park. Straight away, they notice a group of kids on the oval playing cricket. The girls are dying to join in, but apparently it’s ‘boys only’. Millie and Maggie are not impressed – they’re huge Hobart Hurricanes fans and can bat, bowl and field as well as any boy!

It’s time to come up with a plan to show these Brisbane Heat-loving boys that girls can play too! Meanwhile, there’s something strange going on at the caravan park, with all manner of things slowly disappearing – including a beloved cricket bat!

Will the girls outshine the boys and unravel the mystery before their holiday is over?

Middle to older primary aged readers of both sexes will readily identify with the characters in each of these novels and would enjoy the vicarious challenges and victories which these well-plotted, highly credible sports fiction books deliver.

Russ Merrin, Magpies Magazine

With the cricket season well under way and the very popular Big Bash League looming, this is a series that will appeal to all fans of the format, both boys and girls. Written for independent readers, each book includes tips about the focus skill - batting, all-rounder, fielding and bowling as well as a profile of the two teams. Double Delivery even has instructions for Dice Cricket that can be played when you can't get outdoors. A great series for those who love their sport and demand to read about it.

Barbara Braxton, The Bottom Shelf blog

With decent-sized typeface, chapter headings and illustrations, these stories are easy-to-read and fast-paced, and offer good reading especially to reluctant readers, both boys and girls.

Di Bates, Buzz Words Books

Big Bash League is a fantastic series for cricket lovers or children who enjoy cricket and love an unsolved mystery. Panckridge has cleverly crossed genres and created really interesting storylines in this non-gender specific series. Maggie and Milly in Double Delivery are two feisty girls who argue their way into the boys-only cricket team with some mind boggling techniques, and solve a local mystery along the way. Here are two girls who can bat, bowl and field as well as think outside the square.

Katy Gerner, CBCA Reading Time

In this action-packed junior fiction series, cricket is front and center, but there is so much more going on than just playing sport. From new pals to dealing with self-doubt, these books bring together a number of elements to both entertain and educate young readers.
