Aotearoa NZ Bookshop Day

We are so excited to announce that the Personal Penguins are finally here! After a long voyage, the Personal Penguins have made it safely and will be ready for collection from Saturday 31 October at bookshops across Aotearoa New Zealand.

If you’ve reserved your Personal Penguin on Bookshop Day, simply return to the same bookshop and present your Book Nook Card to collect your figurine.

Aotearoa NZ Bookshop Day, run by the Booksellers Association, is a day to celebrate our local bookshops and the integral role they play in our community. From personalised book recommendations to hosting a wide range of literary events, our local bookshops make an incredible impact on every reader.

If you purchased any two Penguin books from a participating bookshop on Love Your Bookshop Day, you would’ve received your limited-edition Book Nook Card that reserves your figurine.

From Saturday 31 October, simply return to the same bookshop and present your Book Nook Card to collect your figurine. A bookseller will tick off your card upon collection. Display your Personal Penguin figurine with the Book Nook Card when you get home!

The Personal Penguin 2026 figurine is perfect for book lovers and a charming addition to the previous figurines. Celebrating the power of books and reading, this Personal Penguin represents the way stories can shape our lives, bring us together and inspire a lifelong love of reading.

First introduced for Love Your Bookshop Day in 2024, the Personal Penguin quickly found its way onto bookshelves around Australia.

Embraced by bookshops, authors, readers and collectors alike, the Personal Penguin quickly became a much-loved part of Love Your Bookshop Day. Book lovers flocked to participating stores to support their local bookshops, collect their own Personal Penguin and share their new shelf companion on social media.

Your Personal Penguin is made to last as a memento of Love Your Bookshop Day 2026.

Should you wish to discard Your Personal Penguin, we encourage you to rehome it by gifting it to a fellow book lover.

We can arrange to rehome/recycle on your behalf, simply send Your Personal Penguin to: Penguin Random House - Level 4, 100 Pacific Hwy, North Sydney, NSW 2060

Please recycle the packaging box and tissue paper via your kerbside collection.
