One Good Run

 'JUST ONE GOOD RUN'
All Burt Munro ever wanted was one perfect run on his highly modified Indian Scout motorcycle - to see how fast it would really go.
In a tiny home workshop in New Zealand, with the barest of tools but a native engineering genius, he constantly rebuilt a unique speed machine, bought brand new in 1920 for $50.
Seeking the ultimate challenge, he took his 'Munro Special' to the famous Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah where he became a legend who is remembered to this day.  The life story of Burt Munro is one of triumph over limitation, achievement against all odds.
Brave, funny, gritty and brilliant, he was quite literally one of the original speed freaks, whose exploits inspired the hit movie The World's Fastest Indian starring Sir Anthony Hopkins.

About the authors

Tim Hanna

Tim Hanna is the author of two best-selling biographies - One Good Run, about Burt Munro, and John Britten, the biography of the late New Zealand motorcycle engineering legend. Hanna himself still rides the same Norton Commando Fastback he's owned for the last twenty years and wouldn't consider any other bike - although if he ever makes any money he might allow one of those new Nortons garage space as a backup. He is completing the restoration of a 100-year-old, 45-foot motorsailer sometime soon.

Gordon McLauchlan

Gordon McLauchlan has been assiduously reading New Zealand history, biography and fiction for more than fifty years and for most of that time he's been writing professional commentaries on the nation and its affairs in magazine articles, newspaper columns and books. He knows New Zealand as intimately and affectionately as anyone alive and has set out in this book to provide for the gereal reader a historical narractive that is personal and colourful, and stamped with the authority of a lifetime of deep interest.
