Shelley is an Australian illustrator with a love of storytelling – the sillier the better. She has worked as a cartoonist for over 20 years, including editorial cartooning for The Melbourne Age, before she illustrated her first picture book and fell in love with the process. Now, she writes and illustrates her own books, and her creative talent has been recognised both locally and nationally through awards, including the 2020 Australian Society of Author’s Style File Illustrator Award as well as the 2020 Maurice Saxby Creative Development Program. Shelley lives in a tiny hamlet, in a straw-bale house that she built with her husband. She insists everyone in her household call one of the bedrooms ‘The Studio’, where she attempts to work in between visits from her three children – and guinea fowl, who tap on the windows with their beaks.
