About the Author

Doggy Dan

Dan Abdelnoor (aka Doggy Dan), author of What the Dogs Taught Me About Being a Father, is a dog trainer, behaviourist and speaker who is keen to help other parents learn more about how to bring up their children. Dan lives in Auckland with his wife, two children and three dogs. He has previously worked as an engineer and a teacher, and brings that experience into this new career. Key to his approach is ‘First you must win their mind, and then you can train their body.’ His training method avoids fear and aggression, and looks at treating the cause of the problems rather than just the resultant issues. His method has been fully endorsed by the SPCA, who use his video website www.theonlinedogtrainer.com as a training tool for staff. He has a blog at www.doggydan.com, and a New Zealand site for clients called www.doggydan.co.nz. His passion is to provide the best dog training and puppy training information to owners worldwide, and his new project named Project Moses is part of this. The project is the video diary of an eight-week-old puppy which began in February 2013. He is a qualified dog listener, having gained basic and advanced certificates from world-famous ‘Dog Listener’ Jan Fennell. He has also completed the canine behaviour and psychology course, and the advanced aggression course, at the Canine Behaviour Centre in Cumbria, UK, and is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Doggy Dan has worked with over 2000 dogs over the past five years and has appeared on TV and radio a number of times and has recently started his own podcast show. See more at www.doggydan.co.nz.
