Derek Dool Supercool 1: Bust a Move

Derek Dool is the OPPOSITE of a hero – part Wimpy Kid, part Pig the Pug – he’s the kid you love to hate (or is that hate to love?).

Think of the COOLEST, FUNNIEST, most HANDSOME kid in school and times it by a gazillion and you have DEREK DILBERT DOOL. At least he thinks so . . . Pity he’s the only one.

Life’s tough when your name’s Derek. You’re destined to be uncool. But Derek is determined to find something - anything - that will change that. He’s sick of being picked last in PE, of not being invited to parties, and of all the cool kids using his freckles as dot-to-dot challenges. Derek is going to find something that will make him SUPERCOOL and nothing is going to stop him.

Praise for Derek Dool Supercool 1: Bust a Move

“There are many boys like Derek in our classrooms so his situation will resonate with them, and with its short chapters, punchy sentences and liberal illustrations this is a new series that is going to have wide appeal with independent readers who don’t want to have to concentrate on convoluted storylines and complex characters yet.”

Barbara Braxton, The Bottom Shelf blog

“A humorous, Aussie read, Derek Dool should appeal to reluctant readers aged 8+ who have enjoyed Middle School, WeirDo and Timmy Failure.”

Renee Mihulka, Reading Time

“Derek is a kid who is decidedly not perfect. The hilarity comes from the fact that all those around him can recognize this, but Derek is blissfully ignorant to it! The magic and charm is humor that can be related to.”

Dark Matter Zine

“Kids from around 8 years upwards will absolutely love this. It is exactly the kind of slapstick funny, gross-out humour, ridiculous situations and outrageous characters that they love. And with Edgar’s comical illustrations and the interspersed Bad Dad Jokes they will get even more laughs out of it.”

Sue Warren, Just So Stories

“A fun book for the family/class to share.”
