The perfect accompaniment to the definitive new editions of Georgette Heyer's celebrated novels that are currently being reissued.

A remarkable biography of one of Britain's best-loved and best-selling novelists, 'the queen of Regency romance'.

Georgette Heyer remains an enduring international bestseller, read and loved by four generations of readers and extolled by today's bestselling authors. Despite her enormous popularity she never gave an interview or appeared in public. Georgette Heyer wrote her first novel, The Black Moth, when she was seventeen in order to amuse her convalescent brother. It was published in 1921 to instant success and it has never been out of print.

A phenomenon even in her own lifetime, to this day she is the undisputed queen of regency romance.

During ten years of research into Georgette Heyer's life and writing, Jennifer Kloester has had unlimited access to Heyer's notebooks and private papers and the Heyer family records, and exclusive access to several untapped archives of Heyer's early letters.

About the author

Jennifer Kloester

Jennifer Kloester loves to escape into a good book. She began writing her own stories in primary school and was living in the jungle in Papua New Guinea when she discovered Georgette Heyer's wonderful historical romances. Those books took her to London, Paris and New York and inspired her to write her two novels The Cinderella Moment and The Rapunzel Dilemma. After spending three years living in the desert in Bahrain, Jennifer now spends most days writing in a book-lined study in an old manse. She is also the author of two books on Georgette Heyer: Georgette Heyer's Regency World and Georgette Heyer: Biography of a Bestseller.

Praise for Georgette Heyer Biography

Heyer's devotees will be charmed by this engaging tour of the author's world. Kloester wisely allows all facets of Heyer's personality to emerge, depicting a feisty, humorous, accomplished woman who is more interesting than her own fictional characters.

Kathy Blumenstock, Washington Post Book Reviews

The narrative is enlivened by Ms. Kloester's plentiful slices from Heyer herself. The secret to her productivity? "I keep going on gin and Dexedrine." Her reaction to being plagiarized by the "slightly illiterate" Barbara Cartland? "I would rather by far that a common thief broke in and stole all the silver."
