Ironheart is the second page-turning book in Jodi McAlister's thrilling Valentine series.

Pearl Linford is stuck. Her best friend won’t talk to her. The internet thinks she is a murderer. And she’s waiting for the right moment to forgive Finn Blacklin, but it never seems to come.
On top of this, Unseelie fairies have infiltrated her town, and they’ve unleashed a new horror – a bunch of wild, uncontrollable, angry supernatural hunters, who've made Finn number one on their hit list.
And you know what? That's a lot for one seventeen-year-old girl to handle. No wonder Pearl is so full of rage all the time. A rage that might be drawing the attention of some very dangerous people.

An exciting, edgy, action-filled adventure - a dark faerie tale set in the Australian bush. This is not the kind of book you just put down . . . it might come after you.

New York Times bestselling author, Kylie Scott

I couldn't put it down. The only good thing about finishing this book is knowing that another follows it. Valentine is the first book of a series and I can't wait to read the next. I highly recommend this book.

Traditional fairy lore is transplanted into a small-town Australian location in Jodi McAlister’s debut novel, Valentine, and given a thoroughly contemporary spin . . . This is one for readers aged 13 and over who love a fast-paced, high-energy story with romance, action, moderate amounts of gore and old-school scary fairy-folk.

Leanne Hall, Readings (review of Valentine)

Valentine ticks a number of appealing boxes and offers unexpected twists, and this balance should make it popular among demanding teens who expect high quality from their literature. The diversity is there, but not in a way that seems artificial or forced. It’s impressive how seamless and organic it feels. Recommended to readers who like their main character sarcastic and edgy. The romance smoulder is off the charts and the family dynamic is strange yet perfect.

Valentine was such a gripping, intense book that was impossible to put down and I was constantly on the edge of my seat trying to work out how everything was going to piece together. The romance between our two main characters was adorable and swoon-worthy, and I loved how they worked together and made this adventure as intense and exciting as it was. If you’re a fan of urban fantasy and are looking for a new and unique Aussie YA series to sink your teeth into, I highly recommend reading Valentine!

Valentine is fast paced and witty . . . sprinkled with suspense and a touch of gory, and endearing characters. Fans of paranormal tales with a twist will enjoy this book and teens will appreciate the sassy, snappy dialogue and the protagonist's constant interiority. Pearl is an engaging, strong, brave female. There's also plenty of modern popular culture, social media references and paranormal powers and twists to keep this read current and relatable. The chemistry between Finn and Pearl simmers along and is the strength of the book, as is the desire to solve who is good and evil and who can be trusted.
