Listen to Me!

Taking the conflict out of child discipline

A new inclusive and effective approach to parenting, and discipline methods that really work, from trained specialist and clinical therapist Dr Anna Martin.

Are you confused by all the different parenting advice on how to discipline your child? Have you been trying a variety of different methods for years that don't really work or feel uncomfortable to use - or are you just starting out on the parenting journey and want sound information?

Regardless of your situation, you might find it helpful to change the way you think about discipline altogether.

Using research and knowledge, Dr Anna Martin has turned traditional methods on their head to come up with effective strategies that put listening and the wellbeing of children before lecturing. Whether your child is 2 or 22, the clear step-by-step methods in Listen to Me! are all you need to minimise conflict in the family and encourage a secure relationship between you and your child.

Rethinking your parenting style is hard, but this book challenged me to do so, and I’m grateful for Dr Anna’s insights. My inner child was also popping up to tell me ‘seeeee, I just wanted someone to listen to me!’ Easy to read, offering long-lasting effects, this book is a great investment for families. Praise for Listen to Me!

I've read many books on how to discipline children - and this is by far the best. It's wise, compassionate, and deeply respectful of child-parent relationships. It's also very practical. If you have kids of any age, this book is worth its weight in gold.

Russ Harris, author of The Happiness Trap

Disciplining kids can bring up a host of uncomfortable feelings for both adults and children. Here, clinical therapist Dr Anna Martin provides some useful alternatives to the strict and autocratic style that parents often fall into. She stresses the importance of allowing children to have their say during a 'discipline event' and discusses how a parent's personal hang-ups can cause them to misinterpret a child's behaviour.
