A hilarious picture book about not forcing friendship, starring a girl who's used to getting her way and an uncouth city rat, from Eliza Kinkz, author-illustrator of Mistaco.

RATFACE DOES NOT WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND.

Or that pony's friend.
AND DEFINITELY NOT Tinky Suárez's friend.

But Tinky thinks she can change Ratface's mind. Do you?

A playful and relatable tale about setting boundaries and learning to be friendly WITHOUT being friends.

About the author

Eliza Kinkz

Eliza Kinkz is a Tejana artist who’s never stopped viewing the world through the bright colors of her crayons, AND she’s even eaten a few too! She was the 2022 James Marshall Fellow and has illustrated many hilarious picture books, including Papá’s Magical Water-Jug Clock by Jesús Trejo, which won a Pura Belpré Illustration Honor. All her ridiculous scribbles burst straight from her heart, which is overflowing with joy . . . and probably a few crayon pieces. Eliza lives in Austin, Texas, with her family and her one true love, a huge bowl of queso. ¡Mistaco! is her author-illustrator debut, and you can spill all the frijoles to her at ElizaKinkz.com.
