A cerebral thriller by a successful Hollywood screenwriter about a tech billionaire who is living proof that his company has cracked the secret to eternal life

Paul Whitmore, the world’s richest man and Silicon Valley's Ponce-de-Leon, is 122 years old, but looks fifty. Thanks to the Method, his proprietary anti-aging protocol, he’s ready to share the secret to Eternal Life with the world . . . for a price. But not everyone wants Paul to succeed, and these shadowy forces are prepared to use violence to keep the Method from coming to market.

When a new threat targets his estranged son Max, an 85-year-old nursing home resident who wants nothing to do with him, Paul brings Max to his compound for protection. As enemies close in and secrets unravel, Paul must face the one challenge he never planned for: fatherhood, and caring for his ageing son. Is it ever too late to reconnect, or to become the parent you never were?

As the date of the Method's release draws closer and the walls close in, Paul's true enemies make themselves known. The pawns corner the king, leaving Paul to make an impossible choice . . .

Praise for The Natural Order

Urgent, plausible … a book that can’t be read fast enough

Daniel Kraus, author of Whale Fall and Angel Down

Haunting, humane and utterly compelling

Barry Jenkins, Oscar-winning director of Moonlight

A high-concept premise drives the action-packed plot … this is a blast

Publishers Weekly

Aldrich takes a premise that could have been a pure high-concept thriller and turns it into something richer

Glenn Powell, star of Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters

Gripping and well-paced … full of philosophical questions and emotional gut punches … the scariest thing is that it seems plausible

Kirkus

Compulsively readable and genuinely moving … this thriller is equal parts propulsive and thoughtful
