Gift guide 2019: books for ages 7-12

Keeping the kids entertained over Summer can be tough, make life easier and gift a story (or two!) to keep them enthralled this Christmas.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid series/ Jeff Kinney (8+)

Wrecking Ball, the newest book in Jeff Kinney's hilarious best-selling series, is out now! With 14 books in the series, if your children haven't been introduced to the Heffleys yet, there's plenty to keep them laughing over the summer holidays.

Showtym Adventure series/ Kelly Wilson (7+)

Inspired by true stories from the Wilson sister's childhoods, the Showtym Adventure series is all about friendship, sisterhood, learning lessons and of course, horses!

Roald Dahl Boxed Set (7+)

This gorgeous boxed set features ten of the most beloved stories from master storyteller, Roald Dahl. The perfect gift for the imaginative little human bean in your life.

Oh Boy and Go Girl (7+)

Inspire your little kiwi this Christmas with these treasuries featuring the amazing true stories of some local legends.

Max Einstein series/ James Patterson (9+)

James Patterson has teamed up with the world's most famous genius to entertain and inspire a generation of children – with the first and only kids' book series officially approved by the Albert Einstein Archives. Awesome adventures, spy antics with a fun sciencey twist!

Trials of Apollo series/ Rick Riordan (10+)

After angering his father Zeus, the god Apollo is cast down from Olympus. Weak and disoriented, he lands in New York City as a regular teenage boy. Now, without his godly powers, the four-thousand-year-old deity must learn to survive in the modern world until he can somehow find a way to regain Zeus's favour.

A Wrinkle in Time/ Madeleine L'Engle (11+)

An iconic novel and an empowering story about the battle between good and evil and the power of love. Perfect for readers 11+ and fantasy fans.
