Eva to the Max

A fast-paced, exhilarating novel-in-verse about a young motocross phenom, chasing her dream no matter the risks

Motocross is Eva’s life. Nothing beats the rush she feels ripping it up on the course—except maybe the moment just after the race when she removes her helmet, and the other riders realize they just got smoked by a twelve-year-old girl.

While fear of bullying leads Eva to keep her passion a secret at school, she’s known in the local racing circuit as “Eva Knievel,” a brazen competitor willing to risk it all to win. But when her daredevil behavior leaves her with a bruised ego and a busted bike, Eva is forced to reckon with the high costs of her beloved sport—financial, physical, and emotional.

As if that reality check weren't harsh enough, there's a new girl at school whose arrival not only threatens Eva's carefully crafted school persona, but her place on the podium, too.

Eva to the Max follows a young racer pursuing one of the ‘many ways to be a girl.’ It’s a relatable story for the ‘sporty girls’ out there, exploring family and friendship dynamics, self confidence and resilience, leadership, and the societal struggles that female athletes and young adults are often faced with.” —Leanne Junnila, Women in Motorsport Canada Founder/Director, International Automobile Federation Women in Motorsport Commission

“Told with the heart, humor, and wisdom we've come to expect from Rebecca Caprara, Eva to the Max steers its way right to the top of the podium. Dealing with themes like friendship, bullying, impostor syndrome, trust, hard work, and the value of a promise, this is a book that anyone can relate to, and thus is perfect for all middle-grade readers — expertly told in verse by one of the best children's authors of that form.” —Paul Swydan, owner of The Silver Unicorn Bookstore (Acton, MA)
