How To Stop Smoking And Stay Stopped For Good

fully revised and updated

Quit smoking for good with this revised edition of the bestselling programme

Everyone knows how bad smoking is for them: about half of all regular cigarette smokers will be killed by their habit, but they just can't seem to give up. If you're really serious about giving up smoking then this is the book that will not only help you to stop, but to stay stopped for good.

Gillian Riley's techniques allow you to understand your nicotine addiction, take control and break your smoking habit. There is a step-by-step giving up programme that is easy to follow and really works. Even in stressful situations, or when boredom sets in, you'll soon realise that even though the freedom and opportunity to smoke is there, you have chosen not to.

How to Stop Smoking and Stay Stopped for Good will even help you to give up smoking without gaining weight.

Gillian Riley

A former smoker and overeater, Gillian Riley has been teaching her successful techniques for stopping smoking and eating less since 1982. Her work has at its focus the thinking that drives addictive behaviour and the practical techniques needed to achieve control. A highly articulate teacher, she brings to her seminars and personal counselling a practical approach which confronts the psychological barriers that make the difference between failure and success in the long term. Praise for How To Stop Smoking And Stay Stopped For Good

Forget ridiculous aversion and repression techniques and look your addiction straight in the eye with her simple, one-day-at-a-time technique

The Guardian

It teaches you, not tricks and gimmicks, but such effective common sense and home truths that I was able to bring an entirely new attitude to my efforts to give up. I found, as a result, that my worst stop-smoking experiences - the tetchiness, the tearfulness, the constant teetering on the brink of failure and the absurd wish to die - didn't happen at all this time

Cosmopolitan

What I found most liberating about this technique was that I no longer needed to run or hide from wanting a cigarette. Not only could I go anywhere, do anything, be with anyone whether they smoked or not, but I also didn't need to try to deny the desire to smoke by eating and drinking more...It is, quite simply and literally, a technique for life

Sunday Times magazine

all last week, owing to a steady influx of politically incorrect visitors, the house has been full of cigarette smoke and the astrays full of stubs, and although I have not smoked for nine years, I don't mind. I owe this to Gillian Riley, who made it possible for me to give up smoking almost without pain and not turn into an anti-smoker. What was most helpful was the removal of the sense of mental deprivation that essentially wrecked every previous attempt of mine to stop smoking

Ruth Dudley Edwards, The Independent

Gillian is an author who always makes sense

Nigella Lawson

It's a revolutionary method, unlike any other practised in this country

Here's Health

Straightforward and simple, it succeeds without drugs, hypnotism or acupuncture...It really works!

Dr Anthony Flood, St Luke's Hospital

Brilliant...with an incredibly high success rate
