What we're gifting this Father's Day

For Father's Day 2025, we're celebrating how books can keep us close to our dads and dad-like figures.

We're embracing the books that bring us closer. From gripping crime to thought-provoking personal development — read on to see the books Penguin staff are gifting the dads in their lives.

Explore our Father's Day collection for more gifting ideas.

Becky - Director

I am giving my partner Become Unstoppable by Gilbert Enoka – he’s already of course a great dad, business owner, soccer coach and golf team member but is always looking for ideas in the personal development space and this book is packed with them!

Cath - Children's Publisher

My own dad, who loves history books, will be receiving Michael Palin’s Great-Uncle Harry. I know this will be a winner as his own dad served in the Canterbury infantry – and it’s quite possible my great-grandfather knew Harry! And for pure fun and entertainment, Dad’ll also be getting Bookshop Detectives 2: Tea and Cake and Death. But Mum will probably steal it off him.

Kat - Sales Executive

I’m giving my dad The Thursday Murder Club FTI edition. As the movie will be out on Netflix just prior to Father’s Day, he can choose to wait and read the book first and then watch the movie or vice versa. He’s a big Helen Mirren fan!

Jess - Senior Key Account Manager

Years ago I gave my Father-In-Law Knife by Jo Nesbo to try – he reads a lot but had not explored past the usual big name thriller writers. Since then, a new Nesbo is an event! I'll be gifting him Wolf Hour this year. This one has a sniper serial killer and of course plenty of twists and turns!
